Anyone here have a small backyard pond?

I have been looking into biofiltration and bog filters and came across an article about a guy using both at the same time.
Just wondering if anyone has had experience with either. Also curious if it is feasible with ducks. Seems to be a good option with fish.

I've got one that's around 10'x 8'. I use a pump that is in the pond and it pumps to a filter like the one below. The pump is rated for 3000 gallons and handles the pond just fine. I've also got water hyacinth to help.
I only have goldfish and koi though.

2 feet is the deepest. The ridge around that 2 foot section is around 12 to 18 inches. That's to hold pots and plants

This is my situation as well. I have a similar filter with built in UV sterilization. Also has bio-balls in addition to the regular filter media. Fish do well with it. We only have goldfish- no koi, along with some minnows. Ours is 3 ft at its deepest. If I recall correctly it’s right at 1000 gallons. Also has about a 2ft waterfall where he water returns to the pond and gets oxygenated

How often do y’all clean them out?

I'll rinse the filter out once every month or so. I'll do a large water change every 2 to 3 months.
I pull hyacinth out every 2 weeks in the summer because it grows like weeds.
Skim debris as needed
Mine only gets about 2 to 3 hours of sun in the summer so it's not getting pounded with sun

This is my pond that I built a few years ago. I have a few koi in it right now but you'll need a good pump, filter, waterfall and a couple of aeration lines going into it. You'll need to clean it about once a month and you NEED shade. A pond with no shade will be an algae breeding ground that is a headache.

Very nice. Home build or you get someone to do it?
Trying to find pics of mine but I just got a new phone

I built the pond myself first. After trying numerous different things to control the algae I decided to build the pergola.

That will be my problem too, whatever I build will get full sun all day unless I put it by some new fruit trees. It will still take a year or 2 for them to grow to get any decent amount of shade.

Awesome. I dug mine myself also. I have natural shade built around it luckily.
This is a pic from a few years ago that I found in an old thread. No underwater filter anymore with the fountain. A few things different on the outside but this is the just of it
