It’s my understanding that your credit score considers the ratio of debt to credit (available) in your score.
If I had a credit line of 15k that I used 7k of in September and it is now paid off, what would that do if I closed that account? I have no use for it - it’s specific to one store/retailer.
I have other visa/mc accounts that have plenty of credit available and little debt so it’s not like I’d be closing my biggest line or oldest line of credit.
