I think its a hidden gem on the Destin area coast. I usually head that way once a year and play the normal resort courses like Regatta/Emerald Bay/Raven etc. but I always make time to play this one.

Definitely not a resort type course, but, has a country club feel... bc it is country club.

Its a surprise that you can get that type of elevation changes on a course within eyesight of the Gulf.

Not too long, but a good test.

Probably my favorite course down there. It has elevation changes that none of the Destin courses have. Good mix of short and long par 4’s. I can’t think of anything I don’t like about the place. Good shape, staff was good on my trips there. You’ll enjoy it. Rusty is a moron.

It’s been a few years but air was enjoyable. As others have said, it has some tight driving holes. Great condition.

Is Rock Bayou CC near Niceville worth the drive?

If you’re down their for a beach trip and want a quick and fun round, it’s perfect. Especially for a guy’s trip. It’s not a top tier course or anything but it’s enjoyable for a group that could possibly vary in skill level and just want to have fun.

Not necessarily headed to Niceville area, I was just wondering if it was worth a little extra drive to avoid the crowds at Regatta Bay, Kelly Plantation or Santa Rosa? Rock Bayou got a pretty good rating on a Florida Best Courses list I read, but I am usually suspect of the factors that go into those ratings.

I normally avoid the beach vacations with the wife and daughter, but I caved this year so I’m just looking for good courses in the Sandestin area.
