slight change, what’s the cheapest way to get to Scotland?

My wife just mentioned Scotland. The question remains the same though:
I’m trying to get my family of 3 to Scotland next summer for a family vacation. Looking superficially with google regarding prices I’m getting like $2000/ticket or about $6000 total. Is this correct? This will significantly eat in to my vacation budget.
Is this right?
Is there a cheaper way?
Has anyone here been to Ireland and is it worth it?
TIA

Scotland is not as cheap as flying to Ireland. Dublin fares are lower all the time than Glasgow or Edinburgh. You could find a cheap ticket to London, but the 4-hr train ride from Kings Cross to EDI is suitable only if you’ve a long stay planned.
Another small plus to flying in/out of Dublin: US bound passengers clear UScustoms in the terminal....so it makes your arrival back in the states just like any other domestic flight.
If airfare costs are a concern, pick Ireland.

Fly in/ out of Dublin, there are usually some pretty cheap flights to Dublin at certain times.

ireland and scotland are worth it. but, imo, if you are going to spend tight money and have not been to Europe, go to Italy first and/or Paris/Normandy.

My wife and I are traveling to Scotland the week of July 4th. We are flying out of a Toronto to Dublin, then Glasgow. Flying out of Toronto vs. Detroit saved us $1000. We did the same thing 2 years ago when we went to the Greek Islands. We saved about $1700 for 3 people.
