SEC Players Restricted, but not Coaches

I believe this is a bunch a BS that the SEC allows teams to butcher each other by stealing coaches. When a player wants to transfer, they aren't allowed to go to another SEC team without a restriction. Someone who knows more on this rule can explain more. Why doesn't the SEC adopt tampering rules similar to the NFL? If you hire another coach to a higher position, it should be ok, but to lateral position should require permission and compensation. Just throwing this out there.

Coaches set the restrictions. I don’t think it’s an SEC rule.

There are restrictions on coaches leaving. They are called "buyouts" and are included in contracts to varying degrees.
