A huge factor of the defense is the offense

I'm currently really bored at work.
One main reason why the LSU defense looked much improved from Troy and Miss State was because of the offense. They didn't put up a big score against Florida, but they held the ball long enough to give the defense rest. Below are the time of possessions from greatest to least
LSU 41:54 - BYU 18:06 W
LSU 33:50 - Florida 26:10 W
LSU 32:32 - Chattanooga 27:28 W
LSU 30:08 - Syracuse 29:52 W
LSU 25:16 - Troy 34:44 L
LSU 24:05 - Miss St 35:55 L
Our two losses, where our defense looked awful, were both when we didn't control the time of possession. We don't have the depth to handle three and outs the whole game because we can't substitute the way we should.
The defense has the skill but not the depth. If we are gonna have any chance at beating auburn, the offense has to control the time of possession.

It just reminds me of the early Saban years 2000/2001 where one year the D was ahead of the O and the other the O was ahead of the D. Until JUCO transfers and recruiting built them equally.

Their back to back TD drives in the 3rd quarter I think had a lot to do with our offense struggling. When we were able to put some drives together, we were able to get some stops against their offense.

That's a good point, but the defense isn't exactly getting 3 and outs and getting the ball back to the offense either. I believe lsu defense didn't get a 3 and out until late in the 3rd quarter against Troy. I would be interested to see offense 3 and outs vs defense 3 and outs this year.
