Gf and I dined there last night. Seated at the bar around 8:45. We ordered the Cendra Arepas loaded with shredded pork, chunks of fried plantain, pickled red onion, all stuffed in the best cornmeal I've ever had.
Then the Arepas sampler with chicken & avocado, pork and red onion, and beef with pickled pepper. All three were fantastic and very filling. For size reference, each mini Arepas were cut into 4-5 pieces for sharing.
The cornmeal cakes were so dam good as the plantain chips that came with the large Arepas.
The positives: food quality and quantity were both 2 thumbs up as was pricing. Add 2 beers and total came out $37 (minus 2 beers would have been $27). The host and waitress were extremely nice and helpful as I didn't have a f'n clue what I was ordering.
Negatives: the appetizer platter came after the Arepas. Really no big deal since it was just the two of us and we are pretty low maintenance. I was hoping they had a house vinegar or hot sauce but none was offered. And lastly the Fox8 news was on with all of Nola's lovely stories. I love me some Meg Gatto and Jennifer Hale but the news kills the Latin vibe in the restaurant. A tv is not necessary.
Def will be back. They had a few shrimp Arepas I really wanted to try and the ceviches looked amazing too.

Love that place, but you're right they really don't do service very well. Have heard other horror stories from folks about their slow and/or clunky service. Next time get the Mexican street corn. It's phenom.

I know! And they were out. Saw a table with the last one. Dam that looks good.
