Then Sylve went and returned a kickoff for a TD in the Under Armour game or one of those all star games. I don't remember if Lugindouche was around then, but they were very proud of themselves for their top notch scouting after that TD. I don't think Sylve has returned a single kick for Bama in 3 years. He's hardly seen the field even, playing DB. OBJ was rated a 3 star on ESPN too, 62nd WR.

That also leads some to question the honesty of the rankings. Go take a look at 247's team rankings and explain to me how LSU is so low right now. I know pure numbers are hurting us but quality over quantity still has to aply at some point

Numbers and the fact that 5 or 6 of the current commits are likely to be the lowest ranked recruits in the final class. Having a kicker doesn't help either.

With the emergence of this freshman kicker(don't want to butcher his name) we have, I'm not sold that we'll end up taking a kicker.

bama bias can also be explained as the recruiting sites take a hard look at any player that commits to bama and at a minimum gives such player the benefit of the doubt in raising that player's ranking. It may turn out that the final ranking on player is closer to being accurate than initial rankings. But, if same player were to commit to moo state then player would never be evaluated again to see if ranking should be changed thus leaving the player at a lower ranking.

thus, player committed to lesser school will tend to have a lower ranking than they should.

I think gamble is purely a kickoff guy anyway. Since hairston has another year, a greyshirt makes sense.
