, not afraid to go across the middle and take a hit.

Im sure ill get hammered for this, but this is complete bullshite. He goes down before he gets hit all the time (which is arguably a smart thing to do, but certainly is not "tough"), but more than that, ive seen him jump to catch a ball in his midsection because he's bracing for a hit that isnt there over the middle which allows defenders to close and make the tackle. He misses opportunities to catch in stride.

he's been doing this for a while, and someone else actually pointed it out to me.

watch for it and youll see it.

That being said, i wouldnt trade him for anyone becuase of his ability to get open and the catches he makes, and probably most important is how he and Drew are on the same page all the time.

Oh, and that deep catch was sick.

But dont say he's tough. Id give that one to colston.

I've seen him get nailed and still hang on several times. I think he is tough, because he does play over the middle, and even CBs are bigger than him.

Dude, I've seen lance get drilled numerous times. He made a sick TD grab last year and got absolutely crushed between two defenders. I'll have to find it for you.

i never said he didnt get drilled or crushed. I also didnt say he couldnt hang on. What i said is ive seen him repeatedly dodge contact (go down voluntarily) and jump/crouch to catch balls when he didnt have to.

maybe my definition of tough differs from yours.

Just Sunday he ran a slant or in-route from what i think was the slot, and jumped to catch a ball in the numbers. He could have easily caught that ball in stride. I wish i had time to find a clip.

thats why i said if you look for it youll see it.

EDIT: Maybe this doesnt belong in the appreaciation thread... dont want to piss in his Cheerios. dude does deserve some serious props.

Honestly, I think he is smart to avoid contact. I'd much rather him be out there doin what he does than be on the long list of injured/concussed players and contribute absolutely nothing.

i agree... and you could even argue the same about bracing for contact. You might be giving up a little on the play, but youre more likely to be back in the huddle on the next and not cough up the ball. It just doesnt strike me as what i would consider behavior consistent with a receiver who's tough going over the middle. Maybe smart over the middle.

Always have thought Lance was great. His ability to catch and hang on as his top priority when making a play have been extremely crucial at times.

If he can get 15 - 25 yards a catch and not put his body at risk trying to get 5 more, im ok with that.

as long as that 3rd turns into a 1st.
