When will coaches learn running up the middle 3 times to burn the timeouts doesn’t help

This was the third down play. Shapen had his TE wide open for a first down. Unfortunately, Shapen has turned into a pumpkin and can't play QB. On the coaches for not recognizing this and playing the backup.

That may have worked in 2005 but football has changed. You always want the game in the hands of your offense rather than your defense these days except for rare cases.

Running up the middle might not be the answer but run plays to burn timeouts are still essential. And god forbid a coach call a pass which is incomplete.
