What exactly is ‘time-tested’ for a new pistol mfg?

Update. So here is what I am talking about. At the 4:50 mark there is an issue…..one that can happen on any gun. Trigger pin issue. It could happen anywhere. I guess.
Another trigger pin issue. 10:00 minut mark.

OP:
The PSA Dagger is a glock clone.

So we know the glock design is time tested successfully for decades.

The glock design is a standard reference for polymer striker fired pistols (as are many, many other mfgs).

But to the novice (me), designs and manufacturers are not the same.

The glock can be cloned, but is the clone time tested? No.

I hate to being up the p365 striker drag issue, but time hammered that issue out.
Do y ou foresee issues with a clone that only time will inform us about?

These days…….how long is time tested?

Updated.

This is what I mean by time tested.

These things get hammered out over time. But how long?

There's no time honored standard, but for me it depends on the circumstances. For example, if it's a brand new model from a well respected manufacturer, I'm going to wait at lest 6 mos before I think about buying it. Even then, that depends on how it's going. For example, if it's been 6 mos and reports on the 'net are favorable, I'd consider buying the gun. OTOH, if it's been 6 mos and reports on the internet indicate there are still problems I'm putting my consideration of the gun on hold for at least 6 more mos. If it's a new model from a manufacturer w/ a spotty record, I'll probably start w/ a 12 mos wait and adjust accordingly.
