“Kyle was forced to shoot three people in self defense. The jury got the verdict correct. The legal system worked. He has to live with his conscience knowing that he killed two people, which is tough for anyone regardless of the circumstances. He also has to live with the fact that he made the decision to knowingly put himself in harm’s way when it was unnecessary to do so. That decision set the whole chain of events in motion - including the fact he had to stand trial. His decision to go to the riot could have easily resulted in his death. He put himself in a position where a jury of strangers could have put himself in prison for the rest of his life. He’s not a hero. He’s a dumb kid who made a bad decision. Knowing what he knows now if he could go back in time, unless he’s a fool or a psychopath, he’d have stayed away.”
