He says that property is valued over human life. Your property IS your life in the legal sense. IE you are guaranteed the right to protect it as if it is the source or your livelihood, which in many cases it is.
When you attack the property of others, you are giving up your rights as you jeopardize the rights of others.
But this is what it's all about... the unraveling of our founding documents and beliefs and starting over with something new.
