And they were hit with sanctions while Saban was at Michigan State. Lost 9 schollys over two years. One year, he was only allowed to sign 18 kids. He was not the trendy name. Many wanted Mark Richt, who was OC at Florida State. And Saban was not that young when he got here. He was already 48 years old. He had been around for a while.

Anything under 50 for a HC is pretty young. You can get a good 15-20 year run if you can hire a HC under 50.

Aranda is 45
Tucker is 49
Napier is 42

Was that a knock back then? I feel like the real young coach movement has only started in the last 10yrs. 48 was relatively young.
