The stream lawyers are correct. You want your cross to be your highlights of the case. Prolonged exposure and it takes the bite of any points you might score.
If the witness is good, you have to be good. If the witness is bad, you can be sloppier.
But in any event, the longer the witness answers bullshite questions, the more the jury is just going to remember that bullshite.
