In your scenarios each coach stayed put.
Don't act like it doesn't happen. One of the greatest coaches of all time saw a greater opportunity, even though it involved less money.

After turning down numerous job offers during his time at Kentucky, legendary coach Paul “Bear” Bryant announced on Feb. 4, 1954, he was leaving Kentucky for Texas A&M despite the $15,000-per-year salary in College Station being “a good bit” less than what he was paid at Kentucky.
The ironic part of the story is Bear turned down LSU to go make less money at A&M. Now Jimbo may do the opposite. It's all about legacy with these guys today. They already have more than enough money.

Agreed, which is why it’s hard to imagine Jimbo wanting to leave his current situation for a program that was nothing before Saban, leveled off under Miles, and then cratered under a mouth breathing moron.
Would he win a title at LSU? Sure. Maybe more than one. But then his legacy would forever be tied to the trio above. And that ain’t it chief.
