Winning Championship= Better Player?

Does winning team championships automatically upgrade your individual status as a player? I always see people saying well “x” player has 2 team championships and is better than player “y”. Despite player “y” who has more individual accolades and has performed better.

I don’t think Horace Grant was a better player than Sir Charles

It’s usually a tiebreaker or point of differential between players in the same tier or close to one another. Typically if there is a large disparity. Also it matters if a player never won a championship more so than number of championships.
No one thinks Sidney Crosby is better than Mario Lemieux even though they played for the same team and Crosby has more cups.
Now take Marcel Dionne who never had any success vs say Steve Yzerman. Steve Y is considered the better player because he was able to win the ultimate prize.

Depends on the sport and performance in said championships.
If Tom Brady easy statistically a top 5 QB I don’t think the championships would matter.
I do think he gets a ton of credit for them when he has had some great defenses in those games.
Butnyeah if you want to be great you need to perform on the big stage in the big game.

Winning a championship as a qb is not the same as winning one as a punter

It's different for different sports.
Basketball you are one of 5 guys and you never leave the floor. You can have a huge impact on the game.
Baseball it's kind of meaningless.
You are one of 9 guys and if the other team chooses to they don't even have to pitch to you.
Not to mention if you are a position player on a team with horrid pitching.
Football is a mix.
If you are qb then it means more, if you are a lock down corner on a horrible team then what difference does it make.

Depends on that player's contribution to that championship, if it's someone like Horace Grant, Dennis Rodman, Draymond Green versus player "y," quite logically I would pick player "y" in that instance bc that player can carry a team and play that alpha role on a consistent basis.

Like Deion many years during his career

I think that Patrick Willis and Luke Kuechly were better linebackers than Ray Lewis, however Lewis won a championship and gets put above them.
