I don't think it's a justification as much as it's pointing out that some in our society condemn the white Europeans for certain actions, while at the same time act like all native tribes were these benevolent, benign, pipe-smoking, peace-loving hippies in harmony with the earth and their fellow humans when they were largely committing the same actions on anyone who couldn't adequately defend themselves.

Slavery. Mass murder including babies. Land grabbing. Stealing. Human sacrifice. Even cannibalism in some cases. All committed by native tribes throughout all of the Americas. Hell throughout all of the world. Yet we act like white Europeans invented and cornered the market on these atrocities.

Countless native tribes were victims of atrocities put upon them by more powerful tribes. That largly goes ignored when we cry about white savagery every Columbus Day and Thanksgiving.
