I guess I’m saying we all, have a tendency to frame things in a polar manner. Two years ago, he was the greatest(fielding what was likely the greatest NC team ever), and now he’s terrible. Within knowing the facts, beyond the poor field performances, I think Ed is basically a good person, with a great knowledge of the game, while at the same time, continues to struggle with demons we had all hoped that he had conquered. Having received grace and redemption myself, I look for that day in others. I know that Ed is leaving with a lot of $$$$, but if that’s all he’s “leaving with”, it’s truly sad. As trite as it is, money does not buy happiness. I genuinely hope he reaches that in his life where he’s at peace with himself and others. It’s priceless!
