Last week I had to drop off some medicine to my middle schooler around 1 pm.

There were four cars parked with engines running in the area where carpool line drop off / pick up is.

I asked the office secretary, uhm, are those four cars waiting for carpool?

She laughed and said yes... it's four grandparents they get there every day around 1230 and just sit in their cars, read a book, take a nap, etc. They have nothing better to do so they wait to be the first ones in line for pickup.

There's been a very few times I had to pick my kid up (she either takes the bus home or has after-school activities). I've gotten there right as dismissal time... and still had her picked up 15 min after the pick-up started.
