I think all of these are at risk: Gio, Cranford, Safford, B. Doughty, Beloso, Wyeth, Hasty, Brady. I'm beginning to wonder about Fowler, too. Travinski may get a redshirt, then you have a possible injury to Leto that may warrant a redshirt...Haddad, Holt, Dutton, G Fontenot, and Taylor are also redshirt candidates.

ETA: I do agree that JJ will be more patient with the younger guys that he has more time to develop. He may hang onto some of the older, fringe guys if he chooses to redshirt the younger guys. B Doughty will almost definitely be here in some capacity. I don't think Beloso leaves, either, even if he's last on the depth chart.

I’m not saying, nor will I ever say, that definitively someone will or will not be here, especially this early into practices. But I have 2 reasons for thinking or saying B. Doughty will be gone:

1 - If the story is completely true that he pretty much only ever got a spot at LSU to begin was because of Cade, then I’d say that LSU has more than paid it’s debt. Braden has had 4 years on the team here and I would assume (or at least hope) has already earned his degree. He’s only getting another year because of Covid. So if he is cut or told to look elsewhere, then he nor the family should have any reason to be upset with the program. And it’s not like Cade is going anywhere when he is a for sure starter and in his money year.

2 - Again, if there was any sort of quid pro quo agreement before, Johnson owes no loyalty to that; so I think he is unencumbered on feeling like he has to keep Braden.

And do not mistake me. I’m not trying to bash the guy at all. I don’t know him personally, but he seems like he’s a good guy and he has dedicated 4 years to the program. But LSU is trying to win a championship and if we are honest, I don’t see him being one of the 20 best position players that are likely to be kept or should be kept.

If he wants to remain at LSU, he should talk to Johnson about possibly obtaining the GA coaching position as it doesn’t seem as though they have one this year. At least I haven’t noticed any former players out there thus far.
