I just got back from Auburn. Any explanation as to why Dalfry and Jasper both wore #30? Dalfry wore #38 in the pregame warmups. Ive heard different stuff but does anyone actually know why?

im guessing they had a fake where jasper ran it from the punting position... hes faster than dalfrey

Miles was asked about this by Erin Cofield in his PC today and basically said that it was kind of a "trick" ... one kicker is right footed, the other is left footed ... Auburn wouldn't know which kicker was going to kick for us or might get confused as to which one was in the game and actually punting.
I would never even think to think of such a thing. It goes to show you that Miles and staff think of every little detail (including special teams). As has been said multiple times over the last couple years, Miles is a lot smarter than even we as LSU fans give him credit for.
I'm assuming it's legal to have two players with the same number as RP was playing QB and special teams last year.

it's legal to have 10 players with the same number, it is illegal to have more than one player on the field with the same number.

I think I read somewhere on Sunday where the special teams coach was asked about that as well. He said something to the effect of, "I can't comment on that at this time."
No doubt is was to confuse the defense, however I don't see what the big deal is between a right and left footed punter. Now if one could run and/or pass, then maybe.

Next step is for neither of them to wear their names on the back to confuse opponents even more.

It looked like Dalfrey's name on the #30 jersey was an iron on. Great Stuff.

Answer:
This is too easy...If you have a left-footed punter, he will usually take a step of two towards the left just before he punts the ball. Therefore the blockers would also most likely block that way. If you have a right-footed punter it is just the opposite.
When the opposing team is watching game film, they might say, "Well this punter steps to the right everytime, so we are going to try to run to the same side that he steps.
MIles messed that up for Auburn by putting the left footed and right footed punter in the same Jersey

The only thing I can think of is the spin on the ball would be different, but Im not sure whether a punt returner could make an adjustment in the way he catches the ball, based on the spin.

I could not agree with you more, I am really glad to see that Les is starting to get more respect from the national media.
