Just wanted to start this thread to prove a point. Bill O’Brien has been targeted by Scott. Bill O’Brien will get the Schiano reaction. Our fan base will pressure Woody to not get who he wants. I just hope he doesn’t cave to the idiots like Tennessee did. Good luck boys and sorry about your Texans.

We’ve settled for years. Between Orgeron and the coordinators.
Obviously we want a big name, with success, but who knows who will be available and/or willing.
Jumping at Bill O’Brien, the first name, would be a mistake. IMO

I’m obviously opposed to the hire… he’ll never win a conference championship or national title in college as HC, here or anywhere.
But I will say this…if Woodward is seriously looking at him, it means Woodward expects some serious NCAA sanctions and restrictions are incoming for the program. That’s the only reason a major elite school would consider BOB, to be the stop-gap between restrictions and the future.
In other words, if that’s the case and I certainly hope it’s not, we’re going to be at a talent disadvantage for a couple years so find someone that can weather the storm with X’s and O’s until the storm clears and normal operations can resume. That’s kind of depressing to think about, but that’s the only reason LSU would ever consider BOB.

Thinking about another angle on this BOB topic.
Let me preface this by saying the fans (myself included) oftentimes aren’t the best judge of what a program needs. I totally agree with you that fanbases shouldnt dictate or have an influence on hires. Tennessee is a great example… they would have been much better off long-term if the Schiano hire would have happened.
That said, what do you think Alabama fans would say about BOB being the coach-in-waiting for Saban?
