Years later, I run into her gay younger brother. We were talking about his sister (with whom he apparently had a falling out) and he said "she would have fricked your brains out all summer if you hadn't have been so busy treating her like some Princess."

You almost had us fooled until the very end. No brother is going to say that about his sister to some guy. Even a gay.

No brother is gonna say that about his sister

Probably true most of the time, but not true for me.

Good looking cheerleader at another school that we would play against —-we got each other’s attention and would make small talk when we had games. Never exchanged numbers or addresses (this is mid-80s before cell phones, when you called a house phone and wrote letters, lol I know), but always had the hots for each other.
Years later at LSU, out at a bar, me and her older brother are having drinks, catching up, watching live music.
I asked about his sister. He said “if you only knew now what I knew then” and patted me on the back.

You'd be surprised how much sibling hatred there is in the world. I was in court the other day and there was a protective order hearing over two brothers who got in a fist fight at their Dad's funeral (one allegedly had brass knuckles).

There is more sibling animosity out there than one would think.
