I would say this is all very troubling, not cool at all.

I would suggest a reading of this article in particular. The coverup is usually worse than the infraction/crime, what he suggest is the infraction/crime have not only been covered up but also used as blackmail tool or is planned to be.
If Scott Woodward (or the administration) knows about all this and did nothing, he is on the hook more so than Ed. Using that to potentially be involved in a crime seems rather foolish especially at this stage. (again, taking the comments as true - I have no first hand knowledge of the facts provided by the poster)
