I think Mitch told him the intel community would bury him if he pardoned Assange and Snowden. It was extremely disappointing that he didn't do it. But, to Sir Winston's post, the media would have had a fit that Trump jeopardized national security by doing so.

But he was at war with the media and intelligence community 24/7 since day one so......
