Initially the only thing pending was housing assistance, then yesterday it showed ‘miscellaneous’ with both pending.
This morning received a $1,061 and a separate $500 deposit from FEMA. Assuming the $1,061 is for housing the $500 for miscellaneous.

quote:I heard through the grapevine that this was available. Although my expenses/inconveniences were minimal (drove to Baton Rouge and spent 2 nights with my son; lost a few things in the fridge), I filled out the online form as best I could. My justification for doing it was that as a taxpayer, I've been paying into the FEMA system all my life and didn't feel too bad about getting a little something for the travel expense. The process was quirky - got kicked off a couple of times. I did manage to enter my checking information. I went as far as I could until I got sent over to the SBA loan website. It was then I bailed out. I DID NOT enter an amount of loss. I did not expect to get a dime.

This morning, I saw an ACH deposit from FEMA for $1,061.00 sitting in my checking account.
From a previous personal episode in my life, I pledged to perform a "Random Act Of Kindness" whenever the time was right. I've decided to keep a few dollars for myself to cover my travel cost and give the lion's share to someone who's truly in need. Pay it forward.
