I hate the fact that when someone who has been personally effected does post in an effort to show Covid does kill some, that poster receives grief.

It’s almost as if some posters here don’t want to hear how it can take lives. I get it. For most, even though they continue to tell us Covid is like the flu and that 99.999% of people who catch it will survive, there’s always that fear that someone close will contract the virus and struggle.

Respectfully, I think everyone understands this. Truth is, tragic things happen all the time. I've lived long enough now to have lost lots of people close to me, and that started for me at an early age unfortunately. What I've learned over the years when dealing with that stuff is that while those things are always dreadful for the person effected and those around them, the world continues to spin. I can't tell you how often I've left a hospital after having visited a loved one who was struggling and while fighting back tears to drive look around and realize I'm the only one effected by this right now. Others are living their lives, blissfully unaware of my own personal heartache. And honestly, that can hurt. there's a part of you that kind of resents others' happiness when you're hurting. But you can't really live that way. I've learned that I have to accept that my thing is mine and mine alone.

From my perspective, that's a good thing. It helps to center yourself and to remember that just because something bas has happened to you, it does not mean everyone else has to alter their lives. For many of us, we have been asked to completely alter our lives for something which has not directly effected us at all. And because of that, we're angry about it. We've had many of our personal liberties stripped away from us based on what statistically amounts to a tiny fraction of the public dying or even being roughly effected by this. For those directly effected multiple times, this may feel like something worthwhile to give up. To the rest of us, it does not. Think distraught family members after some school shooting desperately wanting to ban guns for instance.

All that said, no one should be giving you or anyone else grief about being personally touched by this or anything else. I appreciate you having taken the time to post what you did originally.

I know at least 20 people who have had it, including myself. I think I have had it 2 times since January. First time was worse. The recent one was like a mild cold.

I have heard of people that friends of mine know being hospitalized but none dying. I personally don’t know of anyone who has been hospitalized or that died.
