Who is in control of Vietnam now?
The civilian population and politicians lost the will to fight. That’s got NOTHING to do with the military losing a war. That’s soft headed Americans who are great at starting shite they lack the will to see through to the end.
There’s not one single battle we lost, and not one time that if our politicians had decided to leave it to the military to throw the gloves off and stop worrying about bombing North Vietnam, and enraging the Soviets, or allowing them to have sanctuary in Cambodia, that we couldn’t have wiped the fricking floor with those idiots.
McNamara and LBJ were both enormous control freaks who didn’t know shite about warfare but tried to run the war from DC instead of allowing the military to just take and hold ground. By the time Nixon got in office the nation had no appetite to win it. They just wanted out, and that’s what Nixon was elected to do, get us out.
And how did he do it? Linebacker II. He bombed the shite out of North Vietnam and with the quickness had them at the peace table as they didn’t want any more of that shite.
No sir. Our military didn’t lose Vietnam. Your weak minded Politicians and soft brained Americans who like to get us into shite they have no plan to get us out of did that to this country. Our military did exactly what they were asked to do, and did it to perfection.

fought to perfection .....
I guess you forgot about the relentless, but ineffectual bombing campaign that actually strengthened the resolve and will of the people. Conventional tactics from leadership of conventional wars before them ... the brutal massacre at My Lai and hundreds like them. Pushing the bombing into Cambodia helping to fuel the rise of the Khmer Rouge. And on and on.
What battle did the US really win? And body count is not a indicator when you are fighting a country so determined to get its independence back and is willing to lose 10 for your every 1. Hue? yeh that was a good one. Khe Sanh? Another swashbuckling American victory.
and to the idiot who wonders who won based on what Vietnam is like today. Well, Vietnam is pretty incredible actually if you ever get a chance to go to Da Lat, Hue, Saigon, Hanoi and on and on.
