In the case of Tesla if you want to charge your car to a usable capacity in 8 hours instead of 40 or 50 you must provide a dedicated 240 volt 50 amp circuit which means hiring an electrician, material cost, in some municipalities getting a permit, and buy the $600.00 Tesla wall connector

The $600 bucks is for the connector only, does not includes other needed materials like wire, breaker, conduit, electricians time, and pulling permits if necessary.
At my house just the wire will cost over $350 bucks, other material, labor, ang the $600.00 outlet and it is $2k easily.
