OP, I have a Recon Point Man that’s about 7 years old. It was my daily wear for about 4 years and I put it thru hell. I got one with sapphire glass and that was a huge plus.
It still works, but the dial is significantly dimmer. Like difficult to see dimmer. Supposed to last for 25 years, but I doubt it. It’s beat up too. Resin case isn’t particularly resilient. Now to be fair, I’ve ground out brick thresholds wearing this watch (among other things) so the fact that it still works is impressive.
Battery was a bitch to change, very time consuming. I put a little silicone around the gasket because I’d read where people had issues with leakage after changing batteries. Stock band was junk. It lasted less than 6 months.
Would I pay full price for another one? Probably not. Really if the dial still was bright I’d probably think differently, but to have a $500 watch that it’s signature feature works poorly after less than a decade is very disappointing.
