Okay, shedding in context of breast feeding leads me to think that these mRNA vaccine molecules still contains the vector agent to enter the human cells.
Is the mRNA vaccine vector agent lost once it enters the cell? I keep calling it a vector agent because I don't know what else to call it. It's the agent that facilitates the mRNA to cross the cell wall.
No. In breast feeding it would likely be just IgA, an immunoglobulin which accumulates in mucosal surfaces. The mRNA would likely be degraded by specific enzymes called RNases, which is why the mRNA needs to be attached to a liposome or lipid nanoparticle in order to cross the cell membrane. It is exactly the same principle that steroid hormones use, both exogenous and endogenous, in order to cross cell membranes and modulate transcription directly.
