Here's a secret, "the government" doesn't give even the slightest of shits about "public safety". They aren't making decisions to protect you. They are making decisions based upon their particularly political ideologies...BOTH SIDES of the political spectrum. This stopped being about "public safety" over a year ago...if it ever was in the first place. More people getting vaccinated will do NOTHING relative to the government's line of thinking. Because there is no set level of "enough" people being vaccinated. It's COMPLTELY ARBITRARY. Restrictive governments will use whatever data they need to justify the actions they want to take. There isn't some tote board at the Governor's mansion counting the number of people vaccinated like it is the Jerry Lewis telethon with bells and whistles ready to go off once we hit the "goal". That's because there is no goal. It's just a wholly subjective concept

FTR, I'm not "anti-vax". If your own self risk analysis favors getting it then, by all means, do so. But I vehemently oppose the line of thinking that the populace should just do it (even if they really don't want to) just so our elected officials "won't take our toys away, again."
