Only because kneeling is now banned. That was the last time they were allowed to kneel, and most did. Plus, in the anthem vid, you clearly see two groups.

1) Part of the group is indeed facing the flag, but the other part is defiantly not

2) Part of the group has turned their back on the anthem, and the other part is watching respectfully

There are no other options. I personally lean toward #1. Several of the flag facers had their hands over hearts, and were also seen standing in the old video. And those that kneeled in that video did not turn to the flag, nor do hand over heart. So either way, they are still protesting the flag that gives them the world stage to compete
