Ideally, I agree completely with your take. We know, of course, that it can never be perfect because of reasons too numerous and obvious to mention, but I wholeheartedly agree with you on the linemen. You need the numbers for depth, development, and for some who just don't pan out.

There is no "hey, we signed 3 fourstars and 1 fivestar last year so we can sign any four guys this year".
They search, scout and prioritize the top linemen every year. THose players compete for the top 5 spots. The ones that don't get to play garbage time in 2021 and are ready by 2022. Some will transfer but the bluechips stay and do very very well.
They don't rely on some True frosh to come in to save the day. It may happen, but they don't need that option, often.
I know we do to, but we have whiffed on too many.
