At Pebble Beach - Shell's wonderful world of golf
Great watch. Crazy how much distances have increased with technology today.

It’s not just the technology, but physiological changes in the players also. Golf specific strength training, etc.

It's mostly technology. I'm 51 and hit it at least 30-50 yards farther off the tee now than when I played in college. I was in way better shape back then.

Prime Jack with today’s equipment would be hilarious.

Pls note my use of the word “also”. Pls also notice the physical make up of today’s Average Tour player, vs. 35-40 hrs ago. Sure, technology has allowed me to maintain 270yd avg distance off tee with driver at age 56, same as age 21 with persimmon wood & balata ball. If you have gained that significant amount of distance, your swing was probably flawed at your younger age. And I was speaking of Tour players, not amateurs…

Golf swings have changed significantly along with technology.
The appropriate technique for bombing a drive with today's driver and ball does not translate to the driver and ball played in that era.
There's a txg video with a persimmon driver and a balata golf ball that illustrates this pretty well

Yep, Jack could get 300 yds with a McGregor persimmon and a balata ball.

I would love to see him and prime Trevino in today’s game.
Holy shite.
