5: Reid
4: Eason
3: Wilkinson
2: Miller
1: Pinson
O'Neal, LeBlanc, Knight, Murray and Gaines as the main 5 off the bench, with Colbert and Fudge also getting time in a SICK 12-man rotation. Ezewiro plays in blowouts, which are often.
Watch Wilkinson make a big emergence as a sophomore who serves as the team's key lockdown defender and transition-basket ace, plus a versatile inside-outside scoring option and a great offensive rebounding threat.
We don't need Mitchell or Days. In fact, I'm not sure we would have a place to put them. This team as it's currently constituted is as good as anybody.
That is assuming all the new pieces fit together well.
The backcourt is set with Miller and Pinson. You have to imagine Reid will start because you don't really waste minutes for one year talent on the bench...even if there are better players at this point in their careers. 3 and 4 will be the spots we won't know about until Nov. I agree that Eason and Wilkinson are the likely candidates to start there because this team DESPARATELY needs rebounding and defense. That could also open the door for Leblanc at the "4". The guy has proven to be a capable rebounder and defender (at Georgetown). It's just a matter of if Wade ACTUALLY, not just lip service, puts huge emphasis there this season.
You would love a frontcourt guy who could space the floor by being a threat from 3. Reid can, on occasion, knock down a 3. But I really see a slightly better Duop Reath type of season from him (remember, Reath was a solid player for Wade in year one 13/5/ 50%+ overall, 40%+ from three). Wilkinson, in very limited shots, showed he can hit a baseline three. If that develops further he could be a (2020) Charles Manning type of player.
Ultimately, regardless of the line up, I'm not worried about LSU scoring. They've done it every year under Wade. Whether this team is good or much, much, better STILL one come down to what has been the fatal flaw of Wade's teams...DEFENSE. If this truly is the year they turn it around on that side of the ball they should be able to compete with anyone. If not, they will likely still be a good team....just one with a ceiling in March.
