It's only a few hours, only completely unreasonable people would have that much of a problem with it. Most people understand that you are having a much worse time than they are.
And that cross country drive will take a lot longer with that baby.

My kid did great flying at 6 months. Time a bottle for takeoff and landing to help pop the ears. She slept pretty much the entire time. You gotta do what you gotta do.
