Listened to both Carters and Daronte Jones podcast. I love that they are just both really cerebral guys that have a wide breadth of interests. Daronte talked about his love of traveling the world, different books he liked, and Bourbon. Carter studying french, sudoku puzzles, and the piano

what does any of that have to do with football coaching? some of you are charmin ultra soft man, I want guys that can coach, not guys who can cook.
The true job of coaching is relating to people. If you can't relate to people, you can't communicate X&O's. If you can't relate to people, you can't effectively teach. If you can't relate to people, you can't motivate them.

Having breadth of experience, for lack of a better term, helps you relate to a wide breadth of people.

Furthermore, if you are just a clone of the people from the neighborhood with the same experiences, and limited to those same or similar experiences, as a coach you are less likely to foster the trust necessary, especially at the college level, to be the most effective in relating to your players.
