It's a little unclear on exactly how your company is setup, but seems that you aren't REQUIRED to use VPN for connecting remotely. Normally, that is handled by the IT section in charge of firewall and would provide the proper VPN client (Cisco AnyConnect for example). But if you're just need to show an IP presence in the US (probably due to blocking IPs originating from other countries) then a common home use VPN should work.

I've heard good things of Nord VPN and I personally use PIA but believe PIA was bought by another company a year or so ago but I was still under my 3yr subscription so I haven't changed.
