Chill out baw the posting isn't even live yet
Coach Geyer only made $100k/yr. The facilities aren't in good shape. The team culture is toxic and it's headed up from the top by the staff.
I've done more research on this than I care to admit because I joked about applying myself last night. It's my opinion that LSU Swimming, as it stands right now, doesn't need a home run big name hire to improve, it just needs a strong manager and motivator who understands the sport, who is willing to clean house and take some time to change the trend of the program. The damage is systemic, it will take time for any coach to be competitive in the SEC right now.
I think this hire will tell us a lot about how Woodward operates, since brute forcing it with a big name and big spend isn't likely to work here.
tl;dr - words, team culture sucks, Tigers can be very good

Well put. I had a swimmer who recently committed to Louisville and she asked me about LSU along the recruiting process. Told her flat out, "do not even answer LSU's calls." The program is a wreck.

My daughter was a collegiate swimmer. Coming out of HS, she wasn't SEC caliber, but did receive a few offers from smaller schools and ended up at Centenary.
However, some of the top swimmers she competed against received offers from top programs across the country. But not LSU. The roster then was mostly international. I realize that mightve been a way to have a highly competitive team, but it rubs coaches the wrong way. And it does little to build fan support, or a culture.
