A critically accurate reference that includes those who displayed a level of hysterical hatred and contempt for Trump that we didn't even see aimed at the most Left of the Dems who have run for the office.
For some it included the smug implication that it was because Trump wasn't some idyllic combination of Churchill, Burke, W.J. Bryan, Locke, and Montesquieu.
After over the years of having to march out and force ourselves to vote for the likes of the Bushes, Dole, McCain, and Romney.
Then after he won and they got an inkling of his approach to governing nationally they seemed to do a 180.
Specifically, the Rogues Gallery in the so-calld Right media, e.g., Levin, Beck, Berry, Kessler, Sexton, Erickson, Lowry with the Nat'l Review and others.
Was this an epiphany, recognizing an unavoidable reality that we were on the edge of the abyss, and there was no other option.
Or was it merely temporizing, that is, complying with time and occasion in what was more of an attempt at recouping lost viewers/listeners/readers.
If one goes by Lowry it's the latter, since after Jan. 6 he couldn't wait to attack Trump. Or maybe he just experienced an unepected "relapse."
But de Toledano and Buckley must be turning over now with who's running what they founded.
Most of them tried to give us Cruz, which if successful we'd now be in the 5th year of this dystopian slouch instead of at least having a brief respite from it for four years.
Again, what category befits those who in effect "lent comfort and aid to the enemy" and gave them added confidence in their crusade against Trump.
As if they needed any.
At least Liz, G. Will, Lowry and others on the so-called Right never wavered in their hysterical hatred and contempt.
Those are the ones with "real character" that the Right should be so proud of, and would be hard pressed to do without.
