They were the worst Division I-A program at one point in the not too distant past. When Snyder got there it was a dead end job with no winning tradition, no history, no fan support, and in a state that doesn't care about football.

I went to K-State in the 80s. I graduated the year before Snyder arrived. In the four years I was at K-State I watched them lose at home to Austin Peay, Wichita St. (a year or two before WSU disbanded their football program), and twice to Northern Iowa. One of the Northern Iowa losses was a 17-0 shutout. The Wichita St. loss and the non-shutout Northern Iowa loss was in back to back games. In the four seasons I was there they had one player drafted in the NFL. And this was back when the draft was 12 rounds long. The words fail to describe how hopeless it felt to be a fan of K-State football back then.
