Ted Williams was a better hitter than Babe Ruth. If Williams had played in Yankee Stadium with the short porch in RF, had Gehrig hitting behind him and hadn’t lost, basically 5 seasons of his prime to military service, it wouldn’t even be a debate.

I’m a Yankees fan, but I’d go with Williams as well. He missed 3 early prime and nearly 2 late prime seasons due to WWII and Korea, respectively, and played in a park not conducive to left handed power.
Accounting for his averages around those two gaps, he missed out on roughly 150 HRs, 800 hits, and 530 RBI due to military service, which would’ve brought his totals to 660 HRs, 3450 hits and 2370 RBI, the last of which would’ve been more than Aaron’s record.

quote:Agreed. Ted Williams is the greatest hitter of all time. I can't think of anyone else I'd rather have at the plate, if you need a hit.

Good points. I still think Bonds is the greatest hitter of all time.
ETA
People dont want to not give him credit because of PEDs, but he also faced pitchers on PEDs. Ruth didn't face blacks or Latinos. Williams was out five years. Sucks for him, but he didn't play.
