I am pals with a player who played for Dale in the early 90s. He told me LSU showed up with a briefcase holding at least 10k when recruiting Othella Harrington.

Yup. I seem to remember Abernathy’s conversion van being broken into, I believe in Biloxi, and having 7-9000 “recruitment incentives” stolen out of it.
