Yes, French Laundry is the gold standard, but you have to get reservations 6 months out and it's a tasting menu that runs about $400/person. Brix is good. Bistro Jeanty is good, but on the pricier side. Mustards Grill is good. As someone else mentioned, Bottega is good. You can't throw a rock out there and not hit a good restaurant. It's just all degrees of how much you want to spend.

Agreed with all other suggestions in this thread.
Will also add Farmstead at Longmeadow. Pretty laid back, incredible food and won’t break the bank (relatively speaking).
ETA: yes, FL is better than Brix. FL is better than most restaurants in America. I would remove it from consideration because you’ll likely not get in and it will probably blow your budget. It’s a bucket list kind of trip that you need to plan for many months in advance (typically).

French Laundry reservations are done a little differently. On the 15th of the month before you plan to go they release reservations via Tock online. In theory you can try to get a reservation in September for October. Of course you need to be on there the second the reservations are released and act quickly. If money is an issue than you likely will not go there. It is a once in a lifetime type meal for most people.
I would suggest Ad Hoc or Bouchon for lunch. Some wineries let you picnic so you can get food and eat there. We went to Bouchon bakery and got breakfast and lunch for the day. Oak bills Grocery is great too. L Making sure to eat lunch is crucial. Auberge du Soleil for sunset, you can go to bar area and enjoy a few items there if dinner is too expensive.
Most important thing is just relax and enjoy.
