In all fairness, Finley is the only one who actually faced good defenses
He had to play Arkansas, Alabama, and A&M
Brennan started against Miss State, Vandy and Missouri
Johnson against Florida and Ole Miss. Ole
Miss was maybe the worst defense in the country last year and Boutte went the frick offZ

quote:I didn't want to say this because I didn't want to start shite as a QB war, but this is 100% true. Nobody wants to talk about that though. Johnson played the worst defenses we played all year and did pretty good, but how much do you have to do when Boutte is running all over everybody? Florida's defense wasnt much better than South Carolina's and Ole Miss was even worse than that. Finley actually had one of the top 3 games against South Carolina last year despite throwing it only 21 times. Had he thrown it 30 times, you're probably looking at 360 pass yards and 4 TDs. Johnson's game vs UF wasn't even in the top 5 games QBs had vs them. It's why I haven't jumped on the Max Johnson bandwagon. I don't dislike any of the QBs, and I'm not crowning any of the QBs either.

I still believe Brennan should start until he plays really bad. Last year I saw a QB that improved every week in Brennan. It's like people completely forget where Burrow was for the vast majority of his first year in 2018. Burrow looked awful until the last few games. I actually go back to watch Brennan's 3 games, but I can't bother to watch most of Burrow's 2018 games.

Well if A&M was a good defense the only QB who led a scoring drive was Max Johnson in the 4th Quarter after Finley was benched.
Arkansas had a terrible Defense and the winning TD by Finley was a terrible pass which was behind the receiver who made a great catch of a poorly thrown Finley pass.
You calling the Florida Defense poor is self serving at best. Truthfully, LSU would have lost both games vs Florida and Ole Miss had Finley played.
Calling Auburn a good defense is also questionable as the Aubies finished 6-4.
How and why any of you want to glorify TJ Finley after his showing in 5 (half) of the games last season is beyond me.
Finally regarding Boutte “going off” in the last 2 games, well he had a QB who could get him the damn ball. If Finley was the best QB for LSU then I would acknowledge that fact. However, to penalize other QBs just to attempt to and hope TJ gets better is ridiculous. Finley is too slow of foot and too slow to process information and as a result cost LSU the ballgame at A&M. Period.
