That was just a made-up bullshite excuse by the paid subscription recruiting services.
It is NOT their job to predict whether or not a HS football player will qualify. And they are not worth a fake dime if they rate a player's football ability based on their bullshite prediction.

I mean.... their job is whatever they say it is. They are literally the ones who decide the criteria for rankings lol. If you think they suck, don't consume the content.
Justin Jefferson was hurt his senior year, didn't camp much, and was a grades risk. 247 had him as a 3*. That's not outrageous at all given that they literally evaluate *thousands* of kids. They can't do a perfectly thorough evaluation on *every* kid--they have to choose how to allocate their time *somehow*.
If they do such a bad job like you say, why don't you just start your own recruiting service and do better? Should be easy.
