We saw one at Sabine NWR last week. It was all dark except a dull white collar, typically larger than others, and very stationary. Unable to identify or even guess the species.

All day, I've now observed one dickhead male defending all 5 of my feeders. He sits on one branch the entire time and if another hummingbird tries to approach any feeder he runs them off. I think he is also chasing them away from the bottlebrush but I can't see that as well. Cool to watch, but also disappointing in a way that I can't have multiples feeding at once. I'm going to move two of them to different parts of the yard even though it may mean I won't have as good visibility of them.
