The problem with BMI is that it was created in the 19th century, when people did a lot more walking and moving around because there were no cars. Also, people back then ate to survive and barely ate anything at that. So of course a person 5'9 would weight 130 pounds. Because that was completely indicative of the way they lived their lives.

nobody is saying you have to be at the bottom of the BMI range. But 5'9 170 lbs is the top of the normal range. Even if you were a top level natural bodybuilder (99.5%+ of population is not) and you had maxed your FFMI, that would still put you in the 9-10% BF range for almost everyone. Is that a little low for what most people can maintain....absolutely. But we are talking a top level natural BB who has maxed his muscle potential out....very very rare.

Average guy who lifts easily twice weekly would prolly be about 15% bf at that weight if they worked really hard. 15% was considered average in the 70-80s.

That is fat acceptance.

I'm willing to bet that 100% of the people calling others "fatty" are obese/overweight (according to the BMI) in this thread. Especially guys over 30 who live in Louisiana. Come on...

you would be wrong, i can vouch for salmon. I make no bones that at 195lbs right now I am overweight and in the 18-20% bodyfat range. But i am working on it and can promise at 20% BF, I am thinner than 95% of the OT.
